North Texas Volleyball Fan Guide

The Mean Green embark on their first season in Conference USA with a new coach at the helm. Coach Andrew Palileo, recently of Ohio State where he was an assistant coach for two years, brings an extensive resume of experience in the Big-10 and Pac-12 conferences.

Coach Palileo's first campaign begins August 30 in Los Angeles at the Loyola Marymount Tournament, where North Texas will face host LMU, Albany, and national-powerhouse UCLA, which won the national championship in 2011.

North Texas also faces rugged competition at the Houston Tournament September 20-21, where it will meet LSU, Houston, and Baylor.

The first home game is September 3 against local rival UTA. North Texas has 13 home games this season, all played at the North Texas Volleyball Center, located in the Mean Green Village.

North Texas Tournament

The Mean Green hosts its annual tournament September 6-7 at the North Texas Volleyball Center. This year's field consists of regional rivals Prairie View A&M, Northwestern State, and Texas State, as well as Utah out of the Pac 10. North Texas will play two games Friday and two games on Saturday.

Conference USA Play Begins

North Texas will play its first Conference USA game on September 27 in Denton against the East Carolina Pirates, who have their own first-year coach in Julie Torbett.

The Mean Green face ECU, Middle Tennessee, Charlotte, Marshall, Louisiana Tech, Tulane, and UTEP in home league matches, while their road slate includes defending C-USA champion Tulsa on October 6.

Mean Green Sports Pass

Without a doubt, the best value for North Texas sports fans is the Mean Green Sports Pass. The Pass allows you to attend all of this season's North Texas regular-season home soccer, volleyball, and softball games.

For that price, you get nine games featuring the North Texas soccer team and 13 games of the Mean Green volleyball squad. In the spring, you also get the Mean Green softball team, which plays at one of the top softball-only facilities in the region, Lovelace Stadium. That's approximately 45 games this season, all available with the Mean Green Sports Pass.

The 2013 Mean Green Sports Pass will soon be on sale through the ticket office. The cost is just $50 for adults and $30 for youths 17 and under. The Mean Green Sports Pass can be purchased online, at the North Texas Athletic Ticket Office on the west side of Apogee Stadium, or by phone at 1-800-UNT-2366.
