North Texas Softball Fan Guide

The 2012-13 Mean Green softball team embarks on a 48-game schedule coming off one of the best seasons in the program's history.

Last season, North Texas won won eight of its last 10 games to record its second winning season at 28-26-1, the second most wins in a season in team history including a program-best 13 conference wins. The Mean Green set team records for runs scored, RBI, walks and strikeouts, and this year North Texas returns 12 letterwinners, including All-Sun Belt player Brooke Foster.

North Texas will travel to three tournaments early in the season, in Austin for the University of Texas Tournament, in San Marcos for the Texas Shootout, and a return to San Marcos for the CenturyLink Classic.

Among the opponents this year will be seven from the Big 12 and two from the Big 10. North Texas will host Baylor on April 17 and will play home-and-home games against UTA, in Arlington on April 24 and the return match in Denton on April 24.

Lovelace Invitational

The Mean Green's fourth tournament will be their own Lovelace Invitational, held February 15-16 at Lovelace Stadium and featuring a strong cast of teams. North Texas will open play against Oklahoma State on February 15, then face Nebraska-Omaha that evening. On February 16, the Mean Green meet Iowa from the Big 10, then finish against Dayton.

Final Season In Sun Belt Conference

Louisiana-Lafayette is once again tabbed as the favorite in the Sun Belt this year, and North Texas will host the Ragin' Cajuns April 6-7. The Mean Green open league play on May 9 with a twinbill against Florida-International, followed by a single game on March 10.

North Texas will conclude Sun Belt play at home against Louisiana-Monroe on April 27-28, then will play in its final Sun Belt Tournament May 8-11 in Troy, Alabama.

Without a doubt, the best value for North Texas sports fans is the Mean Green Sports Pass.
